Your Responsibilities

The Associate Director of Controlling position is a part of the Central Function (CF) to act as a key deputy to the Director of Controlling. This position will be responsible for directing and coordinating all product cost and inventory accounting, as well as assist with cost controlling functions. In conjunction with the Director of Controlling, provide effective staff training and guidance to advance the controlling team.

Your Tasks

  • Maintain a current and true product cost accounting system in compliance with the Bachem Group accounting principles
  • Maintain perpetual inventory records and manage physical inventory counts
  • Maintain a cost controlling reporting system with cost centers in compliance with the Bachem Group accounting principles
  • A hands on manager that is able to do the operative work and lead by example
  • Drive, contribute and track continuous improvement processes
  • Maximize cost effectiveness by effective business partnering
  • Assist the local management team in interpreting and understanding financial figures
  • Effective communication with all levels of management and across organizations
  • The ability to present and share information effectively and respond to questions
  • Review and analyze monthly results; support navigation towards defined business goals
  • Cooperate in the year-end close process with external auditors
  • Maintain and develop accounting policies and procedures
  • Assess and strengthen accounting and internal control systems

Your Profile

  • BA/BS degree in Accounting or similar field
  • Minimum eight years of extensive controlling and accounting experience in a manufacturing and or life science work environment
  • Strong knowledge of cost accounting with emphasis on standard costing
  • Must possess effective leadership, communication, technology, and analytical skills
  • Must possess solid knowledge of all aspects of generally accepted accounting principles
  • Strong experience working with a large ERP system
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent computer knowledge, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and ERP
  • Ability to effectively organize, multitask, and work in a fast-paced, deadline driven work environment
  • Ability to communicate in a proactive and solution-focused manner, including keeping management aware of potential issues
  • Detail oriented with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical and analytical problems
  • Ability to work independently and manage one’s time
  • Communicate effectively and ability to function well in a team environment

Preferred:

  • SAP experience
  • Knowledge of IFRS
  • CPA and or CMA certification
  • Public accounting experience
