DWX Workplace Engineering Scrum Master

The Customer Care & Experience team at Amgen focuses on advancing capabilities which improve the experience of internal Amgen customers Within Customer Care & Experience, the Digital Workplace Experience team focuses on driving adoption and maximizing business value of deployed End User Technologies. These include synchronous and asynchronous collaboration solutions such as WebEx, Microsoft Teams, Miro, Conferencing, AV endpoints, Voice infrastructure and other ancillary products and platforms. The team consists of cross-disciplinary IS professionals who understand how to deliver services that span operations, engineering, governance, and enablement.

Amgen is seeking a Scrum Master/Project Manager who will play a pivotal role assisting Service/Product Owners in their efforts to manage the backlog and guide the team, while facilitating a healthy team dynamic with respect to priorities and scope. They will eliminate impediments and actively addresses any issues so that the team can remain focused on achieving the objectives of the project or sprint. They will also assist the project partners to manage project budgets in a rational and effective way to maximum the value of investment.

Responsibilities
  • Execute initiatives using agile frameworks as Scrum Master for multiple teams
  • Ensure teams follow agile principles throughout the scrum cycle
  • Deliver partner and team training session with agile coach
  • Lead the team through user story creation, backlog grooming, story estimation, sprint execution, sprint retrospectives and all other aspects of running agile initiatives
  • Train Product Owner and team members on agile principles and scrum methodology
  • Ensure the team achieves a self-managing and robust state
  • Support the team in breaking break down requests into manageable stories, prioritizing backlog and facilitate discussions on assigning story points, defining the definition of done and acceptance criteria.
  • Report and monitor progress of team activity during sprints to ensure sprint goals and objectives are met
  • Lead resolution of impediments raised by individual team members and estimate and track team velocity
  • Represent the team during scrum meetings to ensure minimal distraction from outside influences while monitoring progress of external dependencies
  • Partner with Product Owner to set shared expectations with effort required from team members across all user stories in each sprint
  • Where appropriate, participate in discussions and provide technical mentorship or facilitate and raise discussion to relevant technology teams
  • Schedule and facilitate product release planning activities including approvals and communications
  • Maintain sprint documentation, monitoring and reporting within the approved platform such as Jira
  • Capable of delivering Agile Introduction training
  • Handle budget and support Product Owner and Agile Coach with the Team funding process
Basic QualificationsDoctorate degree

OR

Masters degree and 2 years of Project Management experience

OR

Bachelors degree and 4 years of Project Management experience

OR

Associates degree and 10 years of Project Management experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Project Management experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Atlassian products such as Jira and Confluence
  • Knowledge of Digital Workplace Product and Services, including Collaboration suites (Webex, MS Teams, Telephony, Video Conference, Miro)
  • Skills and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, and conflict resolution
  • Experience conducting backlog grooming, burndown metrics, velocity, sprint planning, sprint retrospectives and scrum events
  • Experience working with end-users to write and prioritize requirements represented as user-stories
  • Good technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Good project management, meeting facilitation, negotiation, planning and organizational change management skills
  • Able to lead activities across multiple initiatives or teams simultaneously
  • Great teammate who can collaborate and provide leadership through influence to achieve the required results
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to set the context and present on complex subjects in clear and concise manner
  • High learning agility, innovation, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to master new technologies and processes with minimal support
  • Familiar with concepts of continuous integration, continuous delivery, and automation
